Our Mission

Pi Phi's Mission Statement is...
The Mission of Pi Beta Phi Sorority for Women is to promote friendship, develop women of intellect and integrity, cultivate leadership potential and enrich lives through community service.

Pi Phi's are both congruent and incongruent with our mission.

We are congruent when we...
do community service hours, and recognize those who have completed the most hours.
serve on Exec Board.
get good grades.
don't take shortcuts; do things the right way
attend chapter dinner/chapter meeting every Monday.
actively participate in other chapter's philanthropy events.
are loyal to our sisters no matter what.

We are incongruent when we...
talk behind each others backs.
cheat on homework.
half-ass our community service projects.
speak negatively of other chapters on campus.
skip class.
only attend social events.

One example of being incongruent with our mission statement is when girls say they will do something and then don't do it. Sticking to your word is really important in group settings because other people count on what you say.

An example of when we are congruent with our mission is when we have 100% attendance at a sisterhood!

In my opinion, Pi Phi does a pretty good job of being congruent with our values. Of course there is always room for improvement! We could improve our congruency by not letting social events get in the way of our academic success. We should always remember our priorities, even when distractions get in the way (boys, tg's, shopping, watching tv, etc.)

Happy Halloween!

  1. i agree with how we need to stick to our words better. i know one of our sisters led the osu pelotonia team this past year and lots of girls said they wanted to ride, but the girls that actually rode with her were minimal. we all have good intentions, we just get distracted following them through.

  2. ^agree with Jen and your blog...

it's easy to say you'll follow through but those that actually do are few and far between... I find that sometimes the social aspect overshadows other important aspects of fraternity but do promote brotherhood- it's a double edged sword- so as organizations- we need to find a way to promote brotherhood/sisterhood through social events but to create new and innovative events to promote brotherhood/sisterhood through service and innovative new events.

  3. I can completely agree with people saying that they will do stuff and not do it. That is part of what makes me not rely on people as much as I could because I know I will get things I want done, and if people help I'm happy. But it would be nice if everyone one did what they said they were going to do.

Also I see the social aspect taking over because some of our members only come out to social events and that is sorta depressing

  4. ^agree with all of the above

Mike I concur, and Chelsea, Pike deals with similar issues. Social events seem to dominate Greek Life sometime, as proven when we see brothers who are inactive show up to tg's and parties and such. brotherhood should not be rooted in social activity, but rather, service events, philanthropic initiatives, and brother/sisterhood. but tg's are fun too :)

and that's great that there was 100% attendance at a Pi Phi sisterhood event! that's awesome
